Rebecca "Becky" Sue Prather

Rebecca “Becky” Sue Prather, 63, of Coffeyville, passed away Saturday, January 8, 2022, at her home, surrounded by her family.

She was born on November 15, 1958, in Wichita, Kansas to Kenneth Dale and Beverly Sue (Robinson) York. Becky spent her early years in Wichita until moving with her family to Coffeyville, Kansas in 1968 where she completed grade school and attended Roosevelt Jr. High School and graduated from Field Kindley Memorial High School.

Becky married Donald Ross; they were later divorced.

Becky was employed as a paraprofessional at Independence High School for 20 years until retiring due to her health in 2018.

She was a member of Southview Church of God in South Coffeyville, Oklahoma. Becky and her mother participated in the Relay for Life for many years. She was a fan of Kansas University Jayhawk Basketball watching as many games as she could on television, but her greatest joy was spoiling her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Survivors include her children, Melissa Ellis and husband, Chad of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, Sarah Ross and husband, Jeff Dunning of St. Peters, Missouri, Melanie Foster and husband, Travis of Coffeyville, and Shawn Ross and wife, Blythe of Erie, Kansas; her father, Kenneth York of Coffeyville; three brothers, Michael York and wife, Athena of Pueblo, Colorado, Greg York and wife, Merriam of Coffeyville, and Scott York of Atlanta, Georgia; twelve grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her mother, Beverly York, and her paternal  grandmother, Georgia Rose York.

A Memorial Service celebrating Becky’s life will be at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, January 13, 2022, at the Southview Church of God in South Coffeyville, Oklahoma with Pastor Albertis Bray officiating. Followng Becky’s wishes cremation has taken place.

Friends may sign the register book on Wednesday, January 12th from 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. at the David W Barnes Funeral Home in Coffeyville.

The family suggests memorials in Becky’s memory to American Cancer Society; contributions may be left with the funeral home or mailed in care of David W. Barnes Funeral Home, 306 North Cline Road, Coffeyville, KS 67337.
