Patty Hart Shira

Patty Hart Shira went to be with the Lord on January 3, 2022.  She was born in Parsons, Kansas, onJune 28, 1931, to Gladys and Raymond Sears.  She lived in Parsons, Kansas until her marriage to Marlin Hart Sr., on January 2, 1949.  They settled in the Coffeyville, Kansas area.  After Marlin’s death on September 26, 1983, she married Herbert Shira on November 26, 1989.

 

She was preceded in death by her mother, Gladys Sears; brother, Mirl Sears; sister, Ruth Hodge; first husband, Marlin Hart Sr.; grandson, Jason Koch; step-grandson, Aaron Bardwell; second husband, Herbert Shira.

 

She is survived by her children, Susan Pipkin (Gale), Aurora, Colorado; Marlene Koch, Coffeyville, Kansas; Becky Chronister (Craig), Pittsburg, Kansas; Marlin D. Hart Jr., Pittsburg, Kansas, Ellen Parsons (Chuck), Reeds, Missouri; stepdaughter Ruth Bardwell (Steve), Bartlesville, Oklahoma; stepdaughter Carmen Dissing (Dennis), Bella Vista, Arkansas.  Grandchildren, Levi Chronister, Joshua Pipkin, Daniel Pipkin, Kaylee (Liam) Koch, Aaron Parsons, Jessica Parsons, Charlie Parsons, and step-granddaughter Vanessa Wallace, and twelve great grandchildren.

 

She was a loving, devoted wife, mother and grandmother.  She devoted her life to her faith and family.  She was a member of the First Southern Baptist Church and former member of the First Baptist Church, both of Coffeyville.  She was active in PTA, Brownies, Campfire Girls, Boy Scouts, multiple church groups and a life-long member of TOPS.  She enjoyed sewing, cooking, reading and travel.

 

Visitation for friends and family to view and sign the guest register will be held throughout the afternoon on Sunday, January 9, 2022, from 1:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. at David W Barnes Funeral Home in Coffeyville.

 

Funeral Services will be held on Monday, January 10, 202, at 10:00 a.m. at the First Southern Baptist Church in Coffeyville, Kansas.  Pastor Luke Oldweiler will officiate.  Burial will follow at Richland Cemetery near Angola, Kansas.  The family requests that masks be worn at the service.

 

The family suggests memorial contributions can be made to a charity of the donor’s choice in her honor; these may be left with the funeral home or mailed in care of David W. Barnes Funeral Home 306 N. Cline Rd, Coffeyville, KS 67337.
