Charles Thomas McCabe, Jr. 64, of Independence passed away Friday, October 15, 2021 at Coffeyville Regional Medical omas McCabe, JrCenter.

He was born on April 12, 1957 at Coffeyville to Charles Thomas McCabe Sr. and Shirley Ann (Ratcliff) McCabe. Charles grew up and attended school in South Coffeyville, Oklahoma, Nowata, Oklahoma, Alluwe, Oklahoma and Chelsea, Oklahoma. He had made his home in Independence, Kansas the last 15 years.

Charles worked as a sacker at Marvin’s Grocery Store, the Food Bank and Down Home Restaurant, Crow’s Nest and the Men’s Home all in Independence.

He attended the First Church of the Nazarene in Independence. Charles enjoyed riding bikes, helping others and going to rummage sales.

Survivors include two sisters, Tommie Phillippi and Betty Colgan both of Coffeyville; six nieces and three nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

A Graveside Memorial Service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, October 28, 2021 at Elmwood Cemetery in Coffeyville.  Following Charles’ wishes cremation has taken place.
