Floyd Bowman

Floyd Bowman, age 96, passed away peacefully at his home in South Coffeyville, Oklahoma on Tuesday, October 19, 2021. 

 

Floyd was born on June 27, 1925 along with his twin brother, Lloyd in Coffeyville, Kansas to William and Florence Mary Bell (Salley) Bowman.  He grew up in Coffeyville where he attended school.  At age 18 he went to work for the refinery in Coffeyville. Floyd worked there for 44 years as an operator on the "cat cracker" unit.  The only time he wasn't working were the few years he spent proudly serving his country in the United States Air Force.  Upon receiving his honorable discharge he was able to return to the refinery where they had held his position until he could return. 

 

Floyd's hobbies included farming and raising his cattle, he loved nature and the outdoors and spent many days watching the wildlife and deer outside his home.  He also enjoyed fishing and boating.  Most of all he loved the time he spent surrounded by his family and friends. 

 

He is survived by his sister Dora, of the home; sister Mrs. Doris (James) Lowrey; sister-in-law, Charlotte Bowman, 5 nieces, 1 nephew; 7 great nieces, 8 great nephews; 10 great-great nieces, 12 great-great nephews; 4 great-great-great nieces and 5 great-great-great nephews. 

 

Floyd was preceded in death by his parents, William and Mary Bell Bowman; twin brother, Lloyd Bowman, brothers Arthur and his wife, Edna, Oscar and his wife, Buell Rae; and Billie Bowman; a sister, Jennie Bowman, three nieces and one nephew.

 

Graveside Service will be held on Tuesday, October 26, 2021 at 2:00 p.m. at Mt. Washington cemetery in Lenapah, OK.  

 

Friends may call on Monday from 1:00 p.m. - 7:00 p.m. to sign the guest register at David W. Barnes funeral home in Coffeyville, KS.  The family will greet friends Monday evening at the funeral home from 5:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m.

 

The family suggests memorial contributions can be made to the American Cancer Society and can be left at the funeral home or mailed in c/o David W. Barnes Funeral Home, 306 N. Cline Road, Coffeyville, KS 67337.
