Shirley Dene Grilswold

Shirley Dene Grilswold age 94, of Coffeyville, Kansas died September 30, 2021, at her home with her daughter holding her hand.

 

Shirley was born on Marach 30, 1927 in Neodesha, Kansas to Dean V. and Elma Minne "Sarah" (Wilson) Nichols.  She graduated from Chanute High School.

 

On December 31, 1956, Shirley married the love of her life Isaac Ray Griswold.  Together they raised three children, Linda Gail Sheline (Norman), Tracy Dene Sandon (Mark) and Brian Ray Griswold (Ginny).  Shirley worked at Southwestern Bell as a telephone operator for 24 years.  She also worked at Gibson's for 20 years and Ford-Wulf-Bruns Chapel for 20 years.  She enjoyed collecting dolls and has over 200 dolls in her collection.  She loved to play cards and go camping.  She also liked to sew making lots of outfits for her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. She loved making memories, especially, during the holidays.  Shirley's favorite shows were Antique Road Show and Wheel of Fortune.  She enjoyed her Chihuahuas, Parakeets and Chops the cat.  She was a member of the Trinity Unted Methodist Church.

 

Shirley is preceded in death by her parents, Dean V.and Sarah Nichols; her sister, Dorothy Busby; her husband, Isaac Ray and her nephew, Steven Dean Muninger.

 

Survivors include 3 children Linda Gail Sheline (Norman), Tracy Dene Sandon (Mark) and Brian Ray Griswold (Ginny); 8 grandchildren, Lonnie Brinker, and Shawna (Brinker) Shorb (Joe) of Muskogee, Oklahoma, Katelyn (Sandon) Darling (Brandon) of Bettendorf, Iowa, Kayloni Sandon of Phoenix, Arizona, Eric Sandon (Calli) of Independence, Kansas, Brian Sandon (Michelle) of Nevada, Missouri, Jarrod Ray Griswold (Faith) of Joplin, Missouri, Ashley Griswold of Dubuke, Iowa; and ten great-grandchildren.

 

A Private Memorial service will be held at a later date. Shirley will be laid next to her husband Ray in Fairview Cemetery.  The family has requested memorial contributions to be made payable to Harry Hynes Memorial Hospice in Shirley's memory.  Contributions may be left in care of the chapel.   To leave an online message of condolence visit www.fordwulfbrunschapel.com
