Jacquelyn Marie "Jackie" Clough

Jacquelyn "Jackie" Marie Clough, age 93, of Coffeyville, Kansas passed away on Tuesday, August 31, 2021 at CRMC. 

 

Jackie was born on August 11, 1928 to John E. "Jack" Lankard and Josie (Drybread) Lankard on a farm between Harris and Garnett, Kansas. 

 

She started in a one room country schoolhouse in Iantha until 7th grade.  She went to a two room schoolhouse, Harris Elementary School and was the only student in the 8th grade, Garnett High School for three years  then moved to Coffeyville where she attended FKHS for her senior year, graduating in 1946.  Jackie furthered her education at Coffeyville Community College where she earned her Associates Degree in 1948 and then to University of Arkansas graduating with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in 1950.  She was a member of Zeta Tau Alpha Sorority at the University of Arkansas. 

 

Jackie worked for W. O. Dixon and Mr. and Mrs. W. P. Thonnel at Dixon Manufacturing Company.  She worked as Mr. Dixon's secretary.  On November 29, 1952 she married the love of her life, Charles "Pug" G. Clough in Coffeyville at the First United Methodist Church.  They made their home in Coffeyville where they raised their children.  Jackie was a lifelong member of the First United Methodist Church in Coffeyville. For a time she taught Sunday school and was a member of the Ladies Circle.  Chapter DR P.E.O. for 60+ years, member of the Order of the Eastern Star for 60+ years.  Enjoyed participating in the Friday Book Club.  Jackie and Pug bought Standard Oil in July 1972 where she worked until the flood of 2007. 

 

She enjoyed traveling, working puzzles and reading. When her kids were younger she was a homeroom mother and was involved in the sports and activities of her kids and enjoyed helping with the Salvation Army.  She loved the time she spent surrounded by her family.  Pug and Jackie had 64 special years together; she adored him.  She loved and was very proud of her children and their accomplishments.  When it came to her grandchildren and great grandchildren she couldn't get enough of them.  Jackie loved every activity, every outing or family gathering that she was able to have the ones she loved around her and was proud of each and every one of them.  Just as recently as the beginning of August Jackie and her sister and their families were able to gather for "Birthday" weekend to enjoy time together. 

 

Surviving to cherish her memory are her loving children, Cindy Baldwin and husband, David of Coffeyville, Nancy Garton and husband, Kendall of Coffeyville; daughter-in-law, Mary Clough of Coffeyville; nine grandchildren, Melissa and Eric Fletcher, Amy and Brendan Murdock, Stacy Baldwin, Monica Shue, Cindy Kelley, Katie Clough and Carmen, Jason Helkenberg, Brandon Helkenberg and James and Kimberly Helkenberg; ten great-grandchildren; sister, Mary Lee Cornett of St. Joseph, Missouri along with several nieces, nephews, extended relatives and close friends. 

 

She was preceded in death by her parents, Jack and Josie Lankard; loving husband, Pug Clough; son, Jon Clough. 

 

Visitation will be held on Monday, September 6, 2021 from 1:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. for friends and family to sign the guest register throughout the day at David W. Barnes Funeral Home. 

 

Funeral Services will be held on Tuesday, September 7, 2021 at 10:00 a.m. at the First United Methodist Church in Coffeyville.  Pastor Nicole Schwartz-Eck will officiate.  Burial will follow at Restlawn Memorial Park Cemetery. 

 

The family suggests memorial contributions can be made to the First United Methodist Church of Coffeyville or to the Salvation Army of Coffeyville; these may be left with the funeral home or mailed in care of David W Barnes Funeral Home 306 N. Cline Rd. Coffeyville, KS 67337.
