Gary W. Stevens, Sr.

Gary W. Stevens Sr, age 77, of Coffeyville, Kansas passed away on Wednesday, June 30, 2021 at Coffeyville Regional Medical Center.  

Gary was born on March 28, 1944 in Coffeyville, Kansas to Wayne and Pauline (Walker) Stevens.  He grew up in Coffeyville where he attended school.  He owned and operated Midwest Fence Company for over twenty years.  Gary also felt led to start Coffeyville Street Ministries, and participated in Middle Man Ministries in Mexico. He founded and Pastored Amazing Grace Ministries on East 9th Street in Coffeyville for several years which was a part of the Independent Assemblies. In recent years due to health, he had been attending Grace Fellowship Church in Coffeyville.  

On April 7, 1962 he was united in marriage to Judith Diane Cessna in Miami, Oklahoma.  The couple made their home in Coffeyville where they raised their two children, Gary Jr. and Kimberly.  Judi preceded him in death on July 26, 2008.

Gary met and fell in love with Gail Chrismore and on May 22, 2009 the couple were married in Coffeyville where they made their home.  Just as he had fallen in love with Gail he also fell in love with her daughters, Michelle and Melissa and extended family.

Family meant everything to Gary, he loved the time he spent surrounded by his family, church family and many friends.  He touched the lives of so many throughout his years of ministry and will be missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing him.  

Surviving to cherish his memory are his loving wife, Gail of the home; children, Gary (Lori) Stevens, Jr. of South Coffeyville, Oklahoma, Kimberly (David) Nash of South Coffeyville, Oklahoma, Michelle (John) Harrison of Pittsburg, Kansas, Melissa White of Corvallis, Oregon; eighteen grandchildren; thirty one great-grandchildren; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Ron (Jan) Clark; mother-in-law, Lucille Chrismore; sister-in-law, Joyce Ehmke; brother-in-law, Danny Chrismore; and sister-in-law, Eula Mae Stevens.  

He was preceded in death by his parents, Wayne and Pauline Stevens; wife, Judi Stevens; brother, Everett "Pete" Stevens; sister and brother-in-law, Rita (Clyde) Stansbury; daughter-in-law, Margaret Stevens; father-in-law, Bill Christmore; and great-grandson, Jawaun Marqeuse Thompson III.  

Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, July 3, 2021 at 10:00 a.m. at Grace Fellowship Church in Coffeyville.  Pastor Doug Mund will officiate.  Cremation will take place and a private family inurnment will be held in the garden of Devotion at Restlawn Memorial Park Cemetery.  

Visitation will be held on Friday, July 2, 2021 at David W Barnes Funeral Home in Coffeyville from 1pm until 8pm.  The family will greet friends on Friday evening at the funeral home from 6-7:30 pm.  

The family suggests memorial contributions be made to the Middle Man Ministries in Mexico or to Hope For All Nations Ministries; these may be left with the funeral home or mailed in care of David W Barnes Funeral Home 306 N Cline Rd. Coffeyville, KS 67337.
