Delores Johnson

Delores Johnson, age 92, of Coffeyville, Kansas passed away peacefully on Wednesday, June 23, 2021 at Windsor Place Nursing Home in Coffeyville. 

 

Delores was born on November 11, 1928 in Coffeyville, Kansas to E. A. and Clara (Ambrose) Johnson.  Delores grew up and attended school in Coffeyville, graduating from Field Kindley. 

 

Delores enjoyed working throughout the years.  She was employed by Carter's Automotive, Sherwin Williams and Community State Bank, She also enjoyed volunteering her time at the Dalton Museum in Coffeyville, as secretary for the United Way, and as a poll worker for the Montgomery County Board of Elections. 

 

She was an active member for many years of the First United Methodist Church in Coffeyville.  She enjoyed growing in her faith and serving her church and community. 

 

Delores loved spending time with family and friends.  She was an avid fan of Coffeyville Community College sports and often attended basketball, volleyball and football games.  She was always overjoyed to attend any kind of family get together or an outing with friends.  Those closest to her knew her as "Dodie" .

She leaves behind her brothers, Larry Johnson and wife, Beverly of Coffeyville, Kansas, Gary Johnson and wife, Dana of Hutchinson, Kansas; sister, JoAnn Garrison and husband, Jim of Coffeyville, Kansas.  She had many nieces and nephews as well as great and great-great nieces and nephews.  She is preceded in death by her parents, E.A. and Clara Johnson, sister, Beverly Johnson; brothers, Jim Johnson and Robert Johnson. 

 

Following Delores' wishes, cremation has taken place under the direction of David W. Barnes Funeral Home. 

 

A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, July 10, 2021 at 11:00 a.m. in the Chapel at the First United Methodist Church in Coffeyville. 

 

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorial contributions be made to the Dalton Museum; these may be left with the funeral home or mailed in care of David W Barnes Funeral Home 306 N Cline Rd. Coffeyville, KS 67337.
