Norma was born on November 18, 1958 to Vernon Lee and Mary B. (Busch) McKnight at St Francis Hospital in Wichita, Kansas.  Norma was next to the youngest of five children, Rex, Deborah, Faith, and Wayne.  In 1970, the family moved to Edna where Norma attended grade school and graduated from Labette County High School in 1976.  She continued her education at Coffeyville Community College and then on to K-State in Manhattan where she completed her master’s degree in 1982.  Norma worked as a personal care attendant and at Deshon’s Fabrics in Independence.

On July 9, 1988 Norma married Robin Roberts in Valeda, Kansas at the United Methodist Church.  Together they made their home in rural Coffeyville and continued to worship at the Valeda United Methodist Church.  They liked to travel together, especially attending musical entertainment events.  Norma and Robin enjoyed fishing together and their favorite spot was under the bridge at Big Hill Lake.
