Norma Jean Roberts

Norma Jean Roberts of rural Coffeyville left her earthly body to be greeted by her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ at Heaven’s gates on Tuesday, June 1, 2021 at the age of 62.

 

Norma was born on November 18, 1958 to Vernon Lee and Mary B. (Busch) McKnight at St Francis Hospital in Wichita, Kansas.  Norma was next to the youngest of five children, Rex, Deborah, Faith, and Wayne.  In 1970, the family moved to Edna where Norma attended grade school and graduated from Labette County High School in 1976.  She continued her education at Coffeyville Community College and then on to K-State in Manhattan where she completed her master’s degree in 1982.  Norma worked as a personal care attendant and at Deshon’s Fabrics in Independence. 

On July 9, 1988 Norma married Robin Roberts in Valeda, Kansas at the United Methodist Church.  Together they made their home in rural Coffeyville and continued to worship at the Valeda United Methodist Church.  They liked to travel together, especially attending musical entertainment events.  Norma and Robin enjoyed fishing together and their favorite spot was under the bridge at Big Hill Lake.

 

Norma was a dedicated wife, sister, aunt, and friend.  She loved God and his son Jesus Christ dedicating her life to worship and studying her Bible.  Norma loved her family dearly, always looking forward to gatherings and reunions.  She adored her nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews, loving them deeply, knowing each by their full name and always remembering their birthdays.  Norma had a big heart.  She was very creative, a skilled seamstress and talented painter.  She enjoyed gardening and was very knowledgeable of plants and flowers. 

 

 Norma is survived by her husband Robin. He will forever cherish their 32 years of marriage and the love they shared. Forever grateful for their sister are her siblings, Rex and his wife Sherryl, Debbie and her husband Scott Miles, Faith and her husband Dewayne Rosson and her sister-in-law Anna McKnight, 14 nieces and nephews and several great nieces and nephews, as well as a host of cousins and friends.  She was preceded in death by her parents, and her brother Wayne McKnight.

 

 

Graveside funeral services will be held on Saturday, June 5, 2021 at 11 am at North Edna Cemetery.  Pastor Dustin Lampe will be officiating.
