Gerald David

Gerald David, 97, beloved Father and Grandfather, was called to his eternal resting place on May 2, 2021. He entered this world on February 29, 1924 in Delaware, OK, born to Floyd and Edna David. He is survived by his son Dr. Michael David (Terri); daughter Suzanne David; daughter Diane DeVore (Paul); granddaughter Suzanne Gann; granddaughter Carrie Dees (Darrell); grandson Dr. Ryan David (Margorie); granddaughter Tara Traylor, granddaughter Kelly Glasgow (Grant); grandson Joshua David (Lora), grandson Stewart DeVore (Allison); granddaughter Emily Carpenter (Tyson); grandson Aaron David (Toni); and grandson Chad DeVore; 20 great grandchildren; and 2 great-great grandchildren.

 

 

 

Gerald graduated from Cedar Vale High School and moved with his parents to Coffeyville, KS in 1942. He enlisted in the Coast Guard in 1943 during World War II and proudly served as a First-Class Petty Officer (Motor Machinist's Mate) on LST-793. Upon returning from the war, he graduated from Kansas City School of Watchmaking in 1948 and worked as a jeweler and watch repairman for nearly 60 years. Gerald took a job with Sinclair Pipeline Company (ARCO) in 1952 and became Supervisor of Engineering Administration before retiring in 1985. He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Independence, KS. Gerald was also a member of the Independence Mirza Shrine Temple, and made numerous trips transferring children to the Shriner's Hospitals for Children in St. Louis, MO. He spent the last ten years of his life in Florida. Gerald also enjoyed fishing, traveling and desserts.

 

 

 

Mr. David was preceded in death by his father, Floyd and mother, Edna of Coffeyville, KS, three brothers, Harold, Ken, and Keith David, and one sister, Pat Davies.

 

 

 

There will be a 'Celebration of Life' Saturday, May 8, 2021 at 10:30 a.m. at the Ford-Wulf-Bruns Chapel, 2405 Woodland Ave, Coffeyville, KS, inurnment will be at Restlawn Memorial Park Cemetery.
