Roger C. James

Roger C. James, age 53, of Lenapah, Oklahoma passed away on Friday, April 30, 2021 at St. Johns Medical Center in Tulsa, Oklahoma.

Roger was born in Lawton, Oklahoma on December 5, 1967 to Randolph and Connie James.  They moved to Lenapah in 1972.  Roger attended Lenapah schools and graduated from Lenapah High School class of 1986.  He went on to attend NEO College for several years.

In 1987 he started working at Wal-Mart in Coffeyville, Kansas where he met his “baby”, Vicki Klingsick in 1989.  Roger and Vicki were married in 1990 and had their first son in 1991, Chance James.  In 1994 they had their second son, Alex James.  Roger and Vicki were married for 30 wonderful, love filled years.  Roger spent 33 dedicated years of service at Wal-Mart and had recently retired in October of 2020.

Roger was a role model and testament to what a husband, father, papa, uncle and brother should be, and if you knew Roger, you knew he was the unofficial “Mayor” of Lenapah.  He loved being outside working with his hands.  He loved junking and working on cars and fixing things.  He loved mowing with his “baby boy” grandson, Jensen.  When he wasn’t doing that he was napping with his “chunkers” grandson, Christian.  He also loved spoiling his sweetness. He enjoyed watching sci-fi action or superhero movies with his boys.  When he was outside you would find him with his friends.  He loved nerding out with his boys and was not ashamed of it.  He loved teaching, helping others, and did not ask for anything in return.

Surviving to cherish his memory are his loving wife, Vicki of the home; his sons, Chance James and Alex James; daughter in law, Chelsea James; two grandsons, Jensen and Christian James all of Lenapah, Oklahoma; two younger sisters, Melinda James of Lenapah, Oklahoma, Kim Copeland of Neosho, Missouri; three older siblings, Sam, Billie and Betty; numerous nieces, nephews, extended relatives and many close friends.

Roger was preceded in death by his parents, Randolph and Connie James and by his Grandpa and Grandma Still.

Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, May 8, 2021 at 10:00 a.m. at the Oklahoma Union High School Gym.  Pastor Shannon Dozier and Pastor Judy Mustain will officiate.  Burial will follow at Mt. Washington Cemetery in Lenapah, Oklahoma.

Family will greet friends the evening of Friday, May 7, 2021 from 6 pm until 8 pm at the LifePoint Church, 502 E. 6th St. in Coffeyville.
