Gary Lynn Schnug

Gary Lynn Schnug, age 58, of Elk City, Kansas passed away on April 15, 2021 at Wesley Medical Center.

Gary was born on June 13, 1962 in Wichita to James Lee and Shirley Irene (Weakley) Schnug. Gary was raised in Riverdale. He attended school in Wellington where he graduated high school. After graduation, Gary entered the work force where he found employment with the traveling wheat harvest. He worked odd jobs around Wichita, and while working in the tire shop at McAlister Oil Company he found love with the accountant, Kendria Coatney. The couple was united in marriage on December 31, 1996. The couple was blessed with a son, Keith James, and a daughter, Keri Louise. Gary enjoyed being outdoors and staying busy. He was constantly tinkering in the garage, working on a vehicle, Keri's house, or his latest woodworking project, checking his cattle, fishing, or finding a new knife or hat to add to his collection. During his down time he liked watching westerns and the Kansas City Chiefs. Gary was easy going and funny; he had a huge heart that was filled with love for his family. He was always ready to go, always at his children’s games or events, and he has always been a hard worker.

Those left to remember Gary’s sense of humor and orneriness are his wife Kendria, his children Keith Schnug and Keri Schnug, Keith's fiancé Nicholle, his mother Shirley Schnug, his brothers; Richard Schnug, David Schnug and his wife Jan, his sisters; Pat Schnug, Linda Schnug, and Beverly Schulte, in addition to his niece's, nephews, and other relatives. He will also be remembered by his many friends, including his coworkers at Cessna where he enjoyed his work in maintenence. Gary now rests with his father James Schnug and sister Alice.

Memorial services will be held on Thursday, April 22, 2021 at the Elk City Church of the Nazarene at 1:00pm with Pastor Terry Marta officiating.
