Pastor Robert “Sonny” Riley, age 75, of Coffeyville, Kansas passed away on Wednesday, March 17, 2021 at his home with his loving family by his side.
Pastor Sonny was born on February 19, 1946 in Chula, Mississippi to Lonnie Riley and Annie Belle (Streeter) Riley. He grew up in Chicago, Illinois. After receiving his education, he became self-employed as a licensed electrician in Chicago. He then answered a calling to serve the lord and became a Pastor at the True Witness Church of God in Christ in Chicago, Illinois.
In 2018, Pastor Sonny moved to Coffeyville, Kansas. He became active in the Church of God in Christ. Some of his other hobbies through the years that he enjoyed was shopping online, computing, working on computer and teaching computer classes.
Surviving to cherish his memory are his children, Michelle Fullard of Coffeyville, Kansas, Tina Riley of Coffeyville, Kansas, Isaac Riley of Las Vegas. Nevada, Lea Riley of Las Vegas, Nevada, and Robert Riley, Jr. of Coffeyville, Kansas; numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren along with a host of other extended relatives and close friends.
Pastor Sonny was preceded in death by his parents, Lonnie and Annie Belle Riley; one grandson, Vincent Cole and seven sisters.
A Home Going Service to celebrate the life of Pastor Sonny Riley will be held on Saturday, March 27, 2021 at 1:00 p.m. at the First Church of God in Christ at 2802 West 1st St. Coffeyville, KS 67337. Burial will follow at Robbins Cemetery west of Coffeyville.
Friends may call on Friday, March 26, 2021 from 1:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at David W Barnes Funeral Home in Coffeyville, Kansas to sign the guest register.
