Mac was born on April 15, 1938 in rural La Harpe, Kansas in Allen County to Clarence and Pauline (Davis) McVey.  He grew up in that area and attended school in La Harpe where he graduated high school.

On August 18, 1956 he married the love of his life, Dorothy Mann in La Harpe, Kansas.  They started their family in Moran, Kansas where they raised their two boys.  Then the couple moved to Coffeyville in 1978.  Mac worked at Kanoma Co-Op where he was the manager and he retired in 2000.

Mac loved spending time with his family and friends.  Before the pandemic, he would meet the guys every afternoon for coffee.  He also enjoyed dancing with Dottie and they spent several winters in south Texas.  He was the “Ranch Foreman” and enjoyed working cattle.

Mac and his family were members of Holy Name Catholic Church in Coffeyville.  Mac proudly served in the United States Navy; serving on the U.S.S. Yorktown.  He received an honorable discharge and later became a member of the V.F.W. Post #1022 in Coffeyville. At times throughout his membership he served as the Commander and as State Inspector for the V.F.W.  Mac was also a member of the Marmaton Masonic Lodge in Moran, Kansas.

Surviving to honor his memory is his loving wife, Dottie McVey of the home; son, Ron McVey and wife Teresa of rural Caney, Kansas;  and daughter-in-law, Genette McVey of Dearing, Kansas, seven grandchildren; fifteen great grandchildren; sister, Delma Nutz of Iola, Kansas and brother, Dale McVey of Moran, Kansas.  Mac was preceded in death by his parents, Clarence and Pauline McVey; son, Chris McVey on December 12, 2018 and by two brothers Wayne and Earl McVey.

Following Mac’s wishes, cremation has taken place and a Celebration of Life Service will be held at a later date.
