Obituaries

David Joe Randall

David Joe Randall, age 70, of Tyro, Kansas passed away on Monday, December 28, 2020 at Jane Phillips Medical Center in Bartlesville, Oklahoma. 

 

David was born on May 30, 1950 in Fairfax, Oklahoma to Lester and Mildred (McMann) Randall.  He grew up in Fairfax and Little Chief, Oklahoma where he attended school.  David furthered his education at Butler Community College and Newman University in Kansas. 

David proudly served his country in the United States Air Force for over thirteen years until receiving a medical discharge.  After his military service, David worked for the United States Postal Service for more than twenty years. 

 

On December 17, 1983 he was united in marriage to Patricia Ann Roby in Haysville, Kansas.  The couple made their home in Tyro, Kansas where he served as the Post Master at the Tyro Post Office.  They also had several rental properties they took care of. 

David was a member of the Delaware Tribe and Cherokee Tribe as well as a member of the VFW Post 1022 and American Legion Post 20 of Coffeyville, Kansas.  He was a guy who could fix anything.  From mechanic work and carpentry to making fishing lures and taxidermy he could do it all.  He was always there to lend a helping hand and even if he couldn’t fix something, he could come up with a temporary solution until something else could be done.  Some of David’s hobbies were hunting, fishing, watching his favorite football teams the Green Bay Packers and the OU Sooners. 

 

Surviving to honor his memory are his loving wife, Patricia of the home; children, Lester Joe Randall and wife, Erika of Horton, Kansas, Stephine Ann Randall and wife, Emily Relph of Coffeyville, Kansas; grandchildren, Marshall Randall, Maryanna Randall, Wyatt Randall, Mae Randall, Maci Randall and Kacely Relph; brother, Charles Randall and wife, Mary of Hulah Lake, Oklahoma; sisters, Judy Nevius and husband, Dennis of Edmond, Oklahoma, Jerri Laird of Bartlesville, Oklahoma; sister-in-law, Barbara Randall of Edmond, Oklahoma. 

David was preceded in death by his parents, Lester and Mildred Randall; brothers, Bob Randall, Arthur Randall and wife, Barbara and a sister, Allene Randall. 

 

Following David’s wishes, cremation will take place under the direction of David W Barnes Funeral Home in Coffeyville, Kansas.  No public services are scheduled at this time. 

 

Memorial contributions can be made to the VFW Post 1022 or the American Legion Post 20; these may be left with the funeral home or mailed in care of David W Barnes Funeral Home 306 N Cline Rd. Coffeyville, KS 67337.
