Larry Dean Bray

Larry Dean Bray, age 72, of South Coffeyville, Oklahoma was called home to be with his Lord and Savior on Sunday, December 27, 2020 surrounded by his loving family.

 

Larry was born on July 3, 1948 in Yakama, Washington to Boyd R. and Georgia F. (Anderson) Bray.  He grew up in Cherryvale, Kansas where he received his education .  From February 1969 to February 1971 he proudly served his country in the United States Army, while serving in the Army he was sent to several vocational classes.

 

On May 25, 1968 he married the love of his life, Albertis Louise Tickle in Coffeyville, Kansas.  The couple made their home in Coffeyville where they raised their daughters.  After Larry retired they moved to South Coffeyville, Oklahoma

 

Larry worked for Berwind Railway Services, Millennium Railway and Watco.  He was a welder and a car brakeman.  He was also a former mechanic at a filling station, a pipefitter in Wyoming and worked at Acme and Haliburton.  .

 

For more than fifteen years he would visit the James Crabtree Correctional Center where he would minister to anyone who needed it.

Larry was a member of the Southview Church of God.  He gave his life to the Lord on Father’s Day June 19, 1989.  He and Albertis were Pastors for two years.  He enjoyed working with his hands and tinkering in the garage.  Most of all he loved the time he spent surrounded by his family and friends.  He will be dearly missed by so many people.

 

Surviving to cherish his memory is his loving wife of 52 years, Albertis of the home; daughters, Cynthia Dawn Coward and husband, Randy of Coffeyville, Kansas, Tammy LeAnn Huff and husband, Roger of Waggoner, Oklahoma; twelve grandchildren and four great grandchildren; siblings, Connie Stoner of Wichita, Kansas, Robert George Bray of Kimberling City, Missouri and Deborah Ann Phillips of Coffeyville, Kansas along with several other close relatives and friends.  Larry was preceded in death by his parents, Boyd and Georgia Bray and by four siblings.

 

Funeral Services will be held on Thursday, December 31, 2020 at 1:00 p.m. at the Southview Church of God in South Coffeyville, Oklahoma.  Pastor David Metz will officiate.  Burial will follow at Robbins Cemetery west of Coffeyville, Kansas.

 

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, December 30, 2020 from 12:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at David W Barnes Funeral Home.

The family suggests memorial contributions can be made to the Southview Church of God; these can be left with the funeral home or mailed in care of David W Barnes 306 N Cline Rd. Coffeyville, KS 67337.
