Jacqueline Ann (McNabney) Thomas

Jacqueline Ann (McNabney) Thomas, age 88, of Coffeyville, Kansas passed away on Thursday, October 29, 2020 at her home. 

 

Jackie was born on August 31, 1932 in Coffeyville, Kansas to Warren and Carrie (Markley) McNabney.  She grew up in Coffeyville where she attended local schools and graduated from Field Kindley Memorial High School in 1950.  She furthered her education at Coffeyville Junior College where she earned her Associates Degree in 1952. 

 

On August 30, 1953 she married the love of her life, Harold Thomas at the Presbyterian Church in Coffeyville.  From 1952-1955 she lived in Pittsburg, Kansas.  From 1955-1958 the couple lived in Caney, Kansasexcept for six months in 1956 when Jackie and Harold lived in Lawton, Oklahoma while Harold was stationed at Ft. Sill.  They returned to Coffeyville in 1958 where they have lived ever since.  Jackie worked in Minden Mines, Missouri and Caney, Kansas.  When her children were older Jackie returned to work for USD 445 for 13 years as a para professional working with special needs students, she retired in 1996. 

 

Jackie was a member of the FKHS Drum and Bugle Corps, Coffeyville Country Club, P.E.O. EZ Chapter and was active in the P.E.O. Mothers Study Club.  She was a member of the Art and Literature Club, was a member of a Monday night bridge club. She was an avid sports fan especially KU Basketball, Field Kindley High School Golden Tornado and the Coffeyville Community College Red Ravens. 

Surviving to honor her memory are her loving husband of 67 years, Harold of the home; children, Dr. David Thomas of Lincoln, Nebraska, Debbie Baker of Derby, Kansas, Susan Lomshek of Lawrence, Kansas, Sarah Holbrooks of Lenexa, Kansas; seven grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; brother, Dr. Kendall McNabney of Kansas City, Missouri; sister, Carolyn Wyatt of Somerset, Kentucky.  She was preceded in death by her parents, Warren and Carrie McNabney. 

 

Following Jackie’s wishes, cremation has taken place under the direction of David W Barnes Funeral Home in Coffeyville, Kansas. 

Family will greet friends on Thursday evening, November 5, 2020 at the First Presbyterian Church from 5:30 p.m. until 7:30 p.m.

Memorial Services celebrating Jackie’s life will be held on Friday, November 6, 2020 at 2:00 p.m. at the First Presbyterian Church in Coffeyville.  Pastor Diane Massey will officiate.  Private family inurnment will take place at Restlawn Memorial Park Cemetery in Coffeyville. 

 

The family requests that everyone were a mask and maintain social distancing for the safety of everyone attending the visitation and celebration of life.

 

The family suggests memorial contributions to the First Presbyterian Church in Coffeyville; these may be left with the funeral home or mailed in care of David W Barnes Funeral Home 306 N Cline Rd. Coffeyville, KS 67337.
