Katherine "Kathy" Marie King

Katherine “Kathy” Marie King, age 59, of Coffeyville, Kansas passed away on Wednesday, September 9, 2020 surrounded by her loving family at home.

 

Kathy was born on September 3, 1961 in Coffeyville, Kansas to Donald “Donnie” Ray Bruce and Beverly Jean (Nalley) Moreno.  She grew up in Coffeyville where she attended local school.

 

On February 14, 1982 she married her sweetheart, Vick “Dusty” King in Independence, Kansas.  The couple make their home in Coffeyville.  Kathy loved taking care of her family and her home.  She enjoyed photography, planting flowers, cooking.  Every weekend the King home was filled with family and friends having fun and making memories.  What she loved the most was the time she spent with her husband, kids and grandkids, they loved her so much in return.  The grandkids had a special nick name for her, to them she was “Buttercup”.

 

Surviving to cherish her memory is her loving husband, Vick “Dusty” King of the home; children, Jose DeAnda and wife, Michele of Claremore, Oklahoma, Laticia Chance and husband, Travis of Chanute, Kansas; grandchildren, Bryce Hestand, Mackenzie DeAnda, Matthew DeAnda, Alex DeAnda, Hunter Brannon, Kobe Chance and Anden Chance; siblings, Lois Ortiz of Southwest City, Missouri, Michael Loveless of Coffeyville, Kansas, Anthony Bruce and wife, Loretta of Coffeyville, Kansas, Donald Bruce of Kansas City, Missouri, Brian Moreno and wife, Marisa of Kansas City, Missouri.  She was preceded in death by her parents, Donnie Bruce and Beverly Moreno.

 

Following Kathy’s wishes cremation has taken place under the direction of David W. Barnes Funeral Home in Coffeyville, Kansas.

 

The family will receive friends on Friday, September 18, 2020 from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Big Hill Park in Coffeyville.

 

Graveside Memorial Services will be held on Saturday, September 19, 2020 at 1:00 p.m. at the Veterans Patio at Fairview Cemetery in Coffeyville.  Pastor Lex Fox will officiate.  Private inurnment will take place at a later date at Restlawn Cemetery.

 

Memorials can be made to the American Cancer Society Hope House in Kansas City; these may be left with the funeral home or mail in care of David W. Barnes Funeral Home 306 N Cline Rd. Coffeyville, KS 67337.
