Larry Brott

Larry Brott, 81, of Coffeyville passed away Tuesday, September 1, 2020 at Jane Phillips Medical Center in Bartlesville, Oklahoma.

 

He was born on December 13, 1938 at Denver, Colorado to Earl and Georgia (McDonald) Brott the 10th of 12 children, making Larry the Perfect 10. He grew up and attended school in Denver graduating from West High School in 1957.

 

He was a veteran serving in the U.S. Army.

 

He married Patty Edwards in 1958, they had two sons, Larry Dean and Mark Allen. They were divorced in 1974.

 

In 1986 he married Katherine (Nace) Meisner, gaining a step-son, Jerry and a step-daughter, Karen. Following their marriage they made their home in Lakewood, Colorado until April of 1990 when they purchased the Bowling Center in Coffeyville and opened the Zone. They operated the bowling center until selling it in 2001, but continued to manage the Zone.

 

Larry was a professional bowler for many years. He bowled a perfect 300 game at the 1972 National Masters Tournament and was pictured in the front cover of Bowlers Journal. He was a member of the Denver Hall of Fame and was bowler of the decade for the 1980‘s. For over 30 years Larry owned a bowling lane refinishing company, his sons, step-daughter and wife, Kathy worked with him for several years.

 

Larry belonged to two 9 ball pool leagues, he also enjoyed baseball, bowling, fishing, listening to music and watching Fox News, loved to walk his dogs and tell a good joke.

 

Survivors include his wife, Kathy Brott of the home; one son, Mark Brott and wife Rebecca of Star, Idaho; one step-son, Jerry Meisner and wife, Monica of Fort Collins, Colorado; one step-daughter, Karen Lindesmith and husband, Rick of Coffeyville; two brothers, Leroy Brott and wife, Barbara, and Kenneth Brott and wife, Rita all of Denver, Colorado; one sister, Shirley Kirchharr of Pensacola, Florida; ten grandchildren, Mary, Joseph, David, Desire, Jacob, Rebecca, Lucas, Anthony, Wyatt, and Dallas; and seven great-grandchildren, Chase, Mathew, Hailee, Lunarae, Sawyer, Ethan, and Owen.

 

Larry was preceded in death by his parents, one son, Larry Dean Brott in 2011, and eight brothers and sisters.

A Memorial Service celebrating Larry’s life will be at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, September 10, 2020 at the Dearing Christian Church with Pastor Jamie Regis officiating.

 

Friends may call on Wednesday from 12:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the David W. Barnes Funeral Home in Coffeyville. The family will receive friends on Wednesday from 6:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at the funeral home. Following the visitation cremation will take place.
