Shirley Jeannette Hough

Shirley Jeannette Hough, 74, beloved wife, mother and grandmother,  of Talala, OK passed away May 19, 2020 at Adams Parc in Bartlesville, OK. She was born on August 2, 1945 in Alpena, Arkansas to Lee Roy Jr. and Erma Lou (Stephens) Hensley.

 

Jeannette grew up and attended school in several different towns where her father was a school administrator serving as either a Principal or Superintendent. She attended high school in Partridge, KS, Longton, KS, and graduated as the Valedictorian at Cambridge High School in 1963. After graduation she attended Pittsburg State Teachers College in Pittsburg, KS.

 

On June 7, 1964 she married Robert E. Hough in Longton, KS. Following their marriage they resided in Pittsburg then later moved to Tulsa, OK, where her husband was employed by Skelly Oil Co.. Jeannette was a home maker and they started their family. In 1974, they made their home in Talala, OK along with their home in Talala they also spent a lot of time working abroad in Liberia, West Africa.  In 1993 Mr. Hough passed and their time in Africa was over.

 

Jeannette then completed her college education where she walked alongside her son, Drew. She was later a Coach of the Oologah High School Soccer Team. She was a Member of Talala Christian Church and Order of Eastern Star. Jeannette enjoyed coaching sports and loved watching her children participate, but her greatest joy was cheering her grandchildren on in every activity.

 

Her survivors include her two sons Rob Hough and wife Stacie and Drew Hough and wife Kim, all of South Coffeyville, OK including her eight grandchildren and one great grandchild. Proceeding her in death are her parents, Lee Roy and Erma Lou Hensley, her husband, Bob Hough, and her daughter, Gina Neuhauser, and her one brother, John Hensley.

 

The family viewing will be Wednesday, May 27, 2020 at the David W. Barnes Funeral Home in Coffeyville, KS. The service will be on Thursday, May 28, 2020 at the Talala Christian Church with Pastor Tom Jones affiliating. The burial will be in North Edna Cemetery in Edna, KS.
