Linda Lou (Nutter) Harris

Linda Lou (Nutter) Harris, (80), of Coffeyville, KS received her heavenly wings early Sunday morning, January 5, 2020 at the Post Acute Medical Center in Tulsa, OK.  She was born on December 17, 1939 in Council Bluffs, Iowa to Eugene and Ruth (Brown) Nutter.

 

Linda lived the majority of her life in the Coffeyville/Dearing area.  She graduated from Field Kindley High School in 1958.  After graduation, she moved to Wichita, KS where she studied at Wesley School of Nursing and obtained her R.N. certification.  While living in Wichita, she met and the love of her life for over 57 years.  On November 22, 1962, she married Robert William Harris.  Together they shared a lifetime of love and memories.  In 1964, she and Bob moved to Hutchinson, KS.  While living there, she worked as an RN at Grace Memorial Hospital and it was there that both girls were born. 

 

In 1976, they relocated back to her roots in Coffeyville to be closer to her family.  She again used her nursing skills by working at Coffeyville Regional Hospital.  She worked in several different departments while at the hospital.  After leaving the hospital, she worked in home healthcare for a few years before retirement.

 

She was a faithful Christian and a member of the Coffeyville church of Christ.  She served her Lord in various roles as a teacher, mentor, Elder’s wife, camp nurse and camp cook.  Linda loved spending time with family and friends.  Her greatest desire was to someday see as many of those as possible in heaven.  She was an avid reader and in her younger years made many birthday and wedding cakes for family and friends.  She loved to entertain and cook.  Her grandchildren and great-grandchildren gave her much joy.

 

Survivors include:  Husband, Bob Harris of the home, two daughters, Jill (Harris) Evans (David) of Olathe, KS, daughter Jan (Harris) Mathews of Oologah, OK.  one sister, Judy (Nutter) White of Tulsa, one aunt, Doris (Brown) Miller of Mansfield, MO. Grandchildren Kaitlin (Evans) Van Buskirk (Jordan), of Edmond, OK, grandson, William Evans of Norman, OK, Phillip Kohler of Oologah, OK, Elizabeth (Kohler) Rodriguez of McCloud, OK, Jody (Mathews) Tyson (Marcus) of Tulsa, OK, Jared Mathews of Tulsa, OK.  She had six great-grandchildren: Brenlee Rodriguez, Dominic Rodriguez, Antonio Rodriguez, Judah Van Buskirk, Kaylen Tyson, and Jaylen Tyson.  Nephews, nieces, cousins, and a host of friends.  She was preceded in death by her parents and son-in-law Thomas Mathews.

 

A celebration of life service will be held on Saturday, January 11th at 1:00 p.m. .  The service will be held at the Coffeyville church of Christ. 

 

In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to Flint Hills Christian Camp c/o Coffeyville church of Christ.
