Rickie Dean Pippin age 75 of Collinsville, OK, formerly of Coffeyville, KS, passed away December 25th in his home surrounded by his loved ones.

 

Rick was born on December 4, 1944, in Cherryvale, KS, to Virgil and Neleta (Johnson) Pippin.  The family relocated to Coffeyville where he graduated from Field Kindley High School. In 1962, while working in Redfern’s grocery store, he met the love of his life Linda Cochran. On June 11, 1965, the couple was united in marriage. To this union they were blessed with three children.

 

Rick’s love for his family was the very foundation of his being; he was a truly devoted husband, a very loving and involved father, and an outgoing, fun, and incredibly proud papa.

 

Rick developed a life-long love for baseball at a young age. He started playing little league and went all the way to the semi-pro league. He also coached little league for a number of years.  He enjoyed watching KU basketball, Cardinals baseball, trips to Branson and Silver Dollar City, crappie fishing at the pond, and all the activities his grandchildren were involved in. Rick was a simple man. He found the greatest joy in the simple things and he didn’t want for anything “fancy”. He enjoyed conversation (he talked a lot); he didn’t need to know someone long before he considered them a friend.

 

 Rick was a Coffeyville fireman for 12 years and also worked at Coffeyville Re-Con. He went on to retire from John Deere in 2009.

 

Rick’s memories will live on with his wife of 54 years, Linda, daughters; Kristie Pippin and Debbie Dashney her husband Chris, son Rick Pippin and his wife Kristin, grandchildren; Tyler Pippin his fiance Megan Lee, Chase and Rose Mills, Taylor Dashney, Nolan Dashney, Faith Pippin, Wyatt Pippin and the seventh grandchild (baby girl) coming soon, sisters; Brenda Bigbie, Cheryl Griffin her husband Mike, Donna Palmer her husband Roger, Teresa Bonham her husband George, brothers; Gary Pippin his wife Judy, Jimmie Pippin his wife Niawana, and many nieces and nephews. He now rests in peace with his parents.

 

 Friends are invited to join the family for a celebration of Rick’s life on January 11 from 1-4pm at the Yoke banquet room in downtown Coffeyville. The family suggests memorials be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital and they may be sent in care of Ford-Wulf-Bruns Chapel 2405 Woodland Ave Coffeyville, KS 67337.
