Louise Carolyn LaForte

Louise Carolyn LaForte, 78, of Coffeyville, Kansas passed away on Wednesday, November 20, 2019 peacefully at her home. 

 

On June 12, 1941 in Coffeyville, Kansas Elwood and Ruth (McCorkle) Avery gave birth to twin daughters, Louise and Lois.  At a very young age their father, Elwood passed away.  Their mother remarried to George Wright who helped raise them.  Louise grew up and attended schools in Coffeyville. 

 

She was a homemaker who loved taking care of her family.  She worked at some of the local hotels in housekeeping and was even the housekeeping manager for a time.  She worked for Dana (now known as Standard Motors) in Independence, Kansas in assembly for over ten years. 

 

On July 19, 1996 in Coffeyville, Kansas she was united in marriage to Gordon F. LaForte he preceded her in death on May 10, 2013. 

Louise enjoyed crocheting, shopping, going to the casino, decorating her house and collected roosters.  Most of all she loved the time she spent surrounded by her family and friends. 

 

Surviving to honor her memory are her daughters, Tina Taylor and husband, Bob of Dearing, Kansas, Kim Swigart and husband, Gary of Coffeyville, Kansas, Sheila Wright of Coffeyville, Kansas; step son, Charles LaForte and wife, April of Coffeyville, Kansas; step daughters, Cheryl Ferrell and husband, Chris of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, Cyndi Featherstone and husband, David of Houston, Texas; numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren; brother, Bob Avery of Coffeyville, Kansas and a sister, Betty Nance of Independence, Kansas. 

 

Louise was preceded in death by her father, Elwood Avery; mother and step-father, Ruth and George Wright; son, Joe Wisely; twin sister, Lois along with several other brothers and sisters. 

 

Following her wishes, cremation has taken place under the direction of David W. Barnes Funeral Home in Coffeyville. 

 

Memorial Services will be held by the family at the First Nazarene Church in Coffeyville on Tuesday, December 3, 2019 at 11:00 a.m.  Pastor Ford Hall will officiate.  A private family inurnment will take place at a later date at Spring Hill Cemetery north of Coffeyville. 

 

Friends may sign the guest register at David W Barnes Funeral Home on Monday, December 2, 2019 from 9am-5pm. 

 

The family suggests in lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to Harry Hynes Hospice or to Coffeyville Meals on Wheels; contributions can be left with the funeral home or mailed in care of David W Barnes Funeral Home 306 N Cline Coffeyville, Kansas.
