Brady Edward Merriman

Brady Edward Merriman, 96, of Daytona Beach, Florida passed away on Thursday, June 27, 2019. 

 

Brady was born on May 24, 1923 in Lenapah, Oklahoma to Fred and Eula (Blakemore) Merriman.  He grew up in Lenapah where he graduated high school.  He furthered his education at the University of Iowa. 

 

Brady proudly served his country in the United States Navy.  He achieved the rank of Lieutenant and was a Flight Instructor at Pensacola, Florida Naval Air Base.  After receiving his honorable discharge he began working for Sherwin Williams in the lab as a chemist from 1946 until the mid-1970’s.  He then worked as a supervisor for National Zinc in Bartlesville, Oklahoma until his retirement. 

In 1946 he was united in marriage to Betty Caine in Coffeyville, Kansas.  The couple made their home in Coffeyville where they raised their two daughters.  Brady was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Coffeyville, and a Freemason with the Keystone A:.F:. & A:.M:. Masonic Lodge #102 in Coffeyville for 73 years.  He enjoyed playing the guitar and violin.  Most of all he loved the time he spent surrounded by his family. 

 

Brady is survived by his daughters, Paula Miller and husband, Dr. Stephen Miller of Coffeyville, Kansas, Nancy Jo McBrayer of Daytona Beach, Florida; nephews, Phillip Merriman and wife, Charlene of Coffeyville, Kansas, Jim Jordan and wife, Rosie of Garnett, Kansas; three grandchildren, Lisa and Bryan Lang  and their children, Hayden, Harper, and Hudson of Tulsa, Oklahoma, Brian Hefley and child, Ashlyn of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma, Logan Pate of Charleston, South Carolina; four step grandchildren,  Kim Sims and husband, Jon and their children, Carter and Grant of Brentwood, California; Susie Miller and David Powell and their children, Maddy, Scott and Brian of Coffeyville, Kansas, Tim Miller and wife, Amanda and their children, Tyler, Zach and Macyn of Spicewood, Texas, Bryan Miller and Carissa Walsh and their child, Austin of Coffeyville, Kansas; He was preceded in death by his parents, his loving wife, Betty in 2009, five brothers and three sisters. 

 

Following Brady’s wishes, cremation has taken place under the direction of David W. Barnes Funeral Home in Coffeyville, Kansas. 

 

A Memorial Service will be held on Tuesday, July 30, 2019 at 10:00 a.m. at the First United Methodist Church in Coffeyville, Kansas.  Pastor Nicole Schwartz-Eck will officiate.  Masonic Rites will be provided by the Keystone Lodge #102 of Coffeyville.  Military Honors will be provided by the Coffeyville VFW Post 1022 and American Legion Post 20. 

 

Friends may sign the guest register between 9:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. at David W. Barnes Funeral Home in Coffeyville until the day of the memorial service. 

 

The family suggests memorials to the First United Methodist Church or Halifax Health Hospice at 655 N Clyde Morris Blvd, Daytona Beach, FL 32114 or mail in care of David W. Barnes Funeral Home to 306 N Cline, Coffeyville, Kansas.
