He was born on December 8, 1950 in Coffeyville to Warren “Bud” and Vivian (Soldano) Mummert.  Cody grew up and attended school in Coffeyville, graduating from Field Kindley High School in 1968.  After graduating, he joined the U.S. Army Reserve in Independence.

On June 8, 1973, Cody married Janice Robinson in Valeda, Kansas.  They made their home in Coffeyville where Cody was employed at Farmland Refinery, now Coffeyville Resources.  While working at the refinery, Cody was a member of the Teamsters.

Cody became a business man when he and Janice owned and operated Chick’s Pool Hall for a number of years.  Later, they purchased and upgraded car washes, creating C & J Carwashes.  They were known for operating a clean and safe place for their customers to clean their vehicles. Cody was an excellent pool player.  He loved golfing with friends and liked to visit the casinos.  At home, he spent his time spoiling his cats and Janice.

Survivors include his wife, Janice, of the home; one brother, Thomas Mummert of Bentonville, Arkansas; one sister-in-law, Terrie Mummert of Coffeyville; several nieces, nephews, great-nieces and nephews; Coffeyville cousin, Anna Marie Brown and numerous other cousins and friends.
