Nettie Marie Allen Phillips

Nettie Marie Allen Phillips, born October 5, 1946, in Coffeyville, Kansas, passed Saturday, March 9th, 2019, at Coffeyville Regional Medical Center with her loving family by her side. Nettie attended school in Altamont, Kansas, and graduated from Labette County High School in 1964. Her education continued at Coffeyville Community College, where she completed business courses. She met and fell in love with Harold Phillips, and the couple married on September 13, 1970 at the baptist church in Dearing, Kansas. Nettie spent her years working at Continental Can, then moved on to Halliburton, then Haymaker’s Furniture, and spent her later years at Coffeyville Tire and Auto.

 

She enjoyed many hobbies including crocheting, bingo, playing cards, and collecting clown memorabilia. Nettie will be remembered most for her heart. She dedicated her life to loving and caring for everyone she met. Her family and friends enriched her life and the impact she made on them will last forever.

 

Nettie is preceded in death by her father, Olen Gordon Allen, and sister Barbara Jean Allen.

 

Nettie is survived by her husband of 48 years, Harold, as well as her son Jeff Allen and his wife Katrina; her daughter Tammy and husband Mark Overton. Nettie is also survived by her mother, Leora Lorine Allen of Coffeyville; siblings: sister Carol Hannah and husband Gene  of Liberty, Kansas; sister Leanne Herriman and husband, Gary of Liberty, Kansas; and brother Johnnie Allen and wife, Lois of Dearing, Kansas. She is also survived by eleven grandchildren, and twelve great-grandchildren.

 

Viewing will be held Wednesday from 12:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the David W. Barnes Funeral Home.

 

The celebration of Nettie’s life will take place Thursday, March 14, 2019, at 2:00 p.m. Services will be held at Bible Baptist Church, located at 701 West 4th Street in Coffeyville, Kansas. Burial will take place at Liberty Cemetery in Liberty, Kansas.

 

The family suggests memorial to Relay for Life, or Windsor Place Activity Fund; contributions may be left with the funeral home or mailed in care of David W. Barnes Funeral Home, 306 North Cline Road, Coffeyville, KS 67337.
