Rosemary Long

Rosemary Long, 89, of Coffeyville passed away Sunday, December 30, 2018 at her home.

 

She was born on June 21, 1929 at Coffeyville to Roland and Melva P. (Hepner) Bowman. Rosemary grew up in Coffeyville where she attended Longfellow School, Roosevelt Junior High and graduated from Field Kindley High School.

Om June 21, 1947 she married Buford M. Long at Wichita, KS. Following their marriage they made their home in Coffeyville where they raised their family.

 

Rosemary worked at Butcher’s Grocery, NuWay Foodliner for many years until going to work at Funk Manufacturing Co. (now John Deere Coffeyville Works) where she was employed until her retirement.

She was a longtime member of the First Baptist Church in Coffeyville. Rosemary was among the first women to serve on the U.S.D. #445 School Board. She  enjoyed cooking and attending sporting events the her children and later her grandchildren were involved in, but her greatest joy was spending time with her family.

 

Survivors include her husband, Buford of the home; three sons, Terry Long and wife, Kathy, Goose Long and wife, Darla, and Crickett Long and wife, Lynette; one daughter, Pam White; one brother, Butch Bowman and wife, Lisa; grandchildren, Carrie Long, Kerrie (Andrew) Dodd, Eric Fritz, Charlie Cantrell, Jessi Cantrell, Amber (Zack) Wade, Zack (Kerrie) Long, Jake (Tasha) Long, Jerome Longacre, Lacy (Aaron) Gittinger, Lisa White, Brandie White, and Becki White; great-grandchildren, Taylor Robbins, A.J. Dodd, Kylee Fritz, Keira Fritz, Aliyah Fritz, Lilee Wade, Luke Wade, Lauren Wade, Anna Cantrell, Wyatt Cantrell, Haven Long, Haizlee Long, Brennan Longacre, Ava Longacre, Ivy Gittinger, Bradley White, Emmalee White, Brody Woody, Gavin Woody, and Kord Woody; and one great-great-grandchild, Meelah Robbins.

She was preceded in death by her parents, one son-in-law, David White; two grandsons, Ernie Fritz, and Michael White; one sister and brother-in-law, Marie (Gene) Vertrees; and one brother and sister-in-law, Johnny (Paula) Bowman, .

 

A Memorial Service celebrating Rosemary’s life will be at 11:00 a.m., Friday, January 4, 2019 at the First Baptist Church in Coffeyville with Pastor Jimmy Harrington of Ridin for the Brand Cowboy Church in Wann, OK officiating.

 

The family will receive friends on Thursday from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the First Baptist Church in Coffeyville.

 

The family suggests memorials to the First Baptist Church or Harry Hynes Memorial Hospice; contributions may left with or mailed in care of David
