The Fredonia Yellowjackets closed out their season last Thursday with a 38-6 loss to the Galena Bulldogs, finishing the year with a 1-8 record under head coach Lucus Lanning.
Fredonia entered the matchup hoping to secure its second win against a winless Galena squad, but the Bulldogs’ defense kept the Yellowjackets from consistently threatening
Lanning says his team moved the ball through the air better than he had seen all season. He also says Galena proved to be a much tougher opponent than its 0-8 record suggested, having faced a difficult schedule throughout the year.
Looking back on the campaign, Lanning says the matchup against Central Heights was where he saw his team begin to put the pieces of the puzzle together. Although the game ended in a loss, he believes it was Fredonia’s most productive performance of the season.
The Yellowjackets will return to action in 2027 for Lanning’s second year at the helm, looking to build on their 1-8 finish.
