The Fredonia Yellowjackets closed the regular season with a 52-16 loss to the Neodesha Bluestreaks last Friday, finishing the year with a 1-7 record under head coach Lucus Lanning.
Fredonia was looking to pull off a big upset against the top team in its district, but after a long touchdown pass brought the Yellowjackets within a score in the first quarter, Neodesha’s offense got rolling and eventually put the game out of reach.
Lanning says his team came out on great footing in the second half and won the final 24 minutes, which was a positive takeaway heading into the final week of the season.
The Yellowjackets played a consolation game against the Galena Bulldogs on Thursday night, and Lanning says he’s seen great improvement from his team throughout the season.
Fredonia fell to Galena 38-6 to close out the year. We’ll have our season wrap-up story on the Yellowjackets next week, and they'll look to come back stronger in 2027.
