Bulldogs Shut Out Chanute in Regulation, Win in Overtime

The Independence Bulldogs and head coach Kendall Fiscus improved to 3-2 after a 16-8 overtime win over Chanute, moving back above .500 with 3 games remaining in the regular season.

The Bulldogs and Comets battled throughout the night, going scoreless through the first four quarters, as Independence’s defense stepped up in overtime to help secure the victory, giving Fiscus and his team an important win as they head into the heart of league play.

Before the matchup, Fiscus says Chanute had played several quality football teams and that his Bulldogs couldn’t solely focus on the Comets’ record.

Independence will move on to face Ottawa next week in its fourth straight home game, looking to build on the momentum from the overtime victory and push its win total to 4.
