The Cherryvale Chargers and head coach Harry Hester are coming off a come-from-behind Week 4 victory over Galena, 22-14.

 

The Chargers started the game a bit flat-footed, with missed scoring opportunities and penalties, while the Bulldogs found the end zone twice to take a 14-0 lead into halftime on their Homecoming night.

 

Hester praised his team’s resiliency and says the biggest difference between the first and second half was the defense, which shut out the Bulldogs over the final 30 minutes. He says the game also provided a good lesson for his players moving forward.

 

Cherryvale will face a Baxter Springs squad this week that will be hungry for a win after dropping its Homecoming matchup in Week 4. Hester says the Lions are a team that can score from anywhere on the field, especially if the defense doesn’t wrap up.

 

The Chargers will look to capture their fourth win of the year while keeping Baxter Springs a one-win team when they face the Lions at home this Friday.
