The West Elk Patriots and head coach Ian Denton are coming off a 67-20 defeat to Southeast in Week 4.

 

The Patriots entered the matchup looking to get back to .500, but a quick start from the Lancers, including a kickoff return for a touchdown, quickly put West Elk behind.

 

Denton says there were some positives to take away from the offense, including success going deep through the air, but he says his offense has to stay within itself and stay ahead of the chains to sustain drives and put points on the board.

 

The Patriots are still dealing with significant injuries heading into Week 5, as four starters will be unable to suit up against their next opponent, Oswego. However, Denton says his team knows who will be on the field Friday night and will prepare for an undefeated Indians squad.

 

West Elk’s next three opponents are a combined 9-3, so the road doesn’t get any easier for the Patriots. They’ll be ready for the stiff competition while continuing to focus on recovery.
