The St. Paul Indians and head coach Keith Wiatrak dropped a 61-16 decision to Marmaton Valley Friday night, moving to 0-4 on the season.

 

The Indians and Wildcats faced off for the fifth consecutive year, with Marmaton Valley earning its fifth straight victory in the series.

 

Wiatrak says Marmaton Valley’s size was a factor in the game, and his defense will use a strategy in future games to help counter opponents with more size at the line and alleviate some of the pressure in the trenches.

 

Despite the rough start to the year, Wiatrak says he never comes into halftime or postgame with a negative mindset and continues to praise his team for never laying down. He says he wants his team to focus on finishing the game with excellent heart and effort and turn their attention to winning the next quarter.

 

St. Paul will be on the road next week to face the Crest Lancers, looking for its first win of the season.
