Bulldogs Drop to 1-2 After Friday Night Home Loss

The Independence Bulldogs suffered a 38-26 loss to the Fort Scott Tigers in their home matchup Friday night.

Following a Week 2 loss to Augusta, the Bulldogs were looking to rebound and get back above .500 against a familiar opponent they defeated 15-8 last season.

Friday’s contest featured plenty of scoring, with both teams trading touchdowns and entering halftime tied at 14. Coming into the game, head coach Kendall Fiscus says his team needed to be prepared for Fort Scott’s offensive and defensive lines, along with its strong ground game.

The game opened up in the second half, as Fort Scott scored three touchdowns to take a 38-20 lead into the fourth quarter. Fiscus says the Tigers are a relentless team and that playing a full four quarters would be key to coming away with a win.

The loss drops Independence to 1-2 on the season. The Bulldogs will look to get back to an even record in Week 4 when they host the Field Kindley Tornado.
