The Erie Red Devils are entering a new chapter this season, with head coach David Pitts beginning his third year and leading the program into its first season of eight-man football.

 

A drop in enrollment forced Erie to adjust to a roster three players smaller than in previous seasons, but the change hasn't dampened the team's enthusiasm, with the new format bringing excitement heading into a season filled with unknowns.

 

One thing that isn't unknown is who Erie will lean on in the backfield, as Pitts says his primary running back will be an important piece while several younger players look to make an impact.
 

Pitts also says a newcomer on defense could provide some added strength on the other side of the ball as the Red Devils adjust to the eight-man game.
 

With a new format, new strategies and new schemes in place, Erie is preparing to write a new story as the Red Devils begin their first-ever eight-man football season.
