The West Elk Patriots are in the middle of their third week of practice for eight-man football, as head coach Ian Denton and his team continue preparing for the start of the season.

 

West Elk finished 2-and-6 during the regular season in 2025, but the Patriots closed the year on a positive note with a 36-26 road win over Central Burden.

 

Denton says West Elk will return several key pieces on offense this season, including what could be a potent quarterback-to-tight end connection, along with experience at running back.

 

The Patriots are eager to get the season underway, and Denton says the hard work from his players and the support they've received from the community have both stood out during the preseason.

 

Patriot Nation will have plenty to look forward to early in the season, with West Elk opening the year with two straight home games as the Patriots look to bounce back from last year's record.
