The Kansas Jayhawks volleyball team is preparing for the start of the regular season after earning a five-set exhibition win over Creighton Saturday at Horesji Arena. 

 

Four of the five sets were decided by three points or fewer, giving the Jayhawks a competitive test against a quality opponent before the first serve of the campaign.
 

The Jayhawks are entering their second season under head coach Matt Ulmer, who spent eight years with the Oregon Ducks before taking over in Lawrence. Kansas has also spent the entirety of the past three seasons ranked in the national top 25. 

 

Ulmer says getting back on the court against a quality opponent in a game-like environment was valuable for his team. 

 

Kansas enters the season ranked 15th in the AVCA preseason poll and will open the regular season against fourth-ranked Pitt. Ulmer says he's looking forward to seeing how the Jayhawks respond to that early test. 
 

The road doesn't get any easier from there, as Kansas will face fifth-ranked Stanford on Sunday, giving the Jayhawks two opportunities for marquee wins during the opening weekend.
