South Coffeyville head coach Rich Giesen and the Lions are entering their second season together after returning to the playoffs in 2025 for the first time in eight years. 

 

After several seasons without a postseason appearance, a lot went right for South Coffeyville last year. Now, Giesen and the Lions are looking to build on that success and make the playoffs a regular destination. 

 

South Coffeyville has already completed three weeks of practice, and Giesen says his players are eager to finally get on the field for their first game. 

 

Giesen says he sees several strengths heading into the season, including the Lions' running game and their ability to make opposing offenses uncomfortable. 

 

Giesen enters his 43rd year of coaching this season, bringing plenty of experience to a South Coffeyville program looking to build on last year's turnaround and make another trip to the playoffs.
