Labette County was well represented as the East beat the West 14-7 in the 2026 Shrine Bowl.
The Grizzlies had two players who made impacts on the defensive side of the ball with Mikel Reed and Kegan Bates and Coach Bradley Argabright coaching the defensive backs. Bates says they appreciate the support of the community.
Bates says he enjoyed the opportunity play with Reed in this game. There were five other players from SEK schools including Parsons, Chanute, Pittsburg and St. Mary's Colgan. Reed says all the players bonded quickly. Bates finished the game with three tackles and Reed with a pass break up.
