Yesterday at Byers Field, Coffeyville Community College Softball swept a doubleheader with Independence to extend its winning streak over its Montgomery County rival to five games.
Game 1: 9-6 Ravens
The Lady Ravens jumped out in game one with a five-run third inning. Katelynn Siess broke the game open with a bases-loaded triple.
Raya Eilert collected two hits and two stolen bases, while Gabrielle Simmons pitched six innings, while tallying two hits at the plate.
Game 2: 7-6(12) Ravens
Coffeyville trailed by two runs in the bottom of the seventh inning. Kaydence Pawnee, who pitched the entire game as well, drove in the tying run in the seventh with a sacrifice fly.
In the eighth, Emma Lara drove in Eilert with a single to walk it off. Both Lara and Eilert had three hits in the game.
This is the second straight year that Coffeyville swept the season series with Independence. The Lady Ravens have not lost to the Pirates since 2024.
CCC is back at it today, hosting a doubleheader with the #14 team in the country, Johnson County. First pitch is at 2 p.m. with the Cavaliers looking to extend their 14-game win streak.
