Independence and Field Kindley High School girls’ swimming competed in the Campus High School event this week. The Lady Bulldogs finished 11th, while the Nado’s managed 14th.
Both schools had high placers in the 50-yard freestyle. Indy’s Esme McAfee got the bronze with a sub-28-second time. Field Kindley’s Makenna Meek came sixth in 28 and a half seconds.
Independence also placed 8th in the 400-yard Freestyle Relay with McAfee, along with Kaylie Flenar, Morgan McLenon, and Katelyn Spencer.
Field Kindley’s Leighton Tatman was 13th in the 100-yard freestyle, and was 14th in the 200-yard medley relay with Tatman, Chloe Mund, Makenna Meek, and Wrenn Lunt.
Independence also had multiple PR’s during Tuesday’s meet. Their Athletic Director, Marcus Lanning, talks about the prospects of qualifying for state.
According to online schedules, Field Kindley girls swim competes next on Tuesday at KC Turner, while Independence is at the Labette County Invitational tomorrow.
