Last night at Leclere Park, Independence High School Baseball drilled Field Kindley 19-3. Kamen Sprague, Brett Carroll and Bryor Botts each recorded three hits. Spencer Crain struck out nine batters in 5.2 innings pitched.

 

Bulldogs head coach Paul Marquez is in his sixth season, and he believes this 2026 squad might be the best team he's led.

 

Independence is 5-2 this spring, which is sixth-best in their division, 4A-East. Most of their wins have been lopsided, and their two losses came by one run, 4-3 to Caney Valley and 11-10  to Baxter Springs.

 

Coach Marquez touts the Bulldogs' experience and says the team has done a good job of gelling with the younger players, too.

 

Independence is back on the field Monday, at home against Field Kindley.
