Royals Rookie Oversleeps and Misses Game

The Kansas City Royals lost their series finale to the Twins yesterday, 5-1. Making headlines around the sports world was the Royals' rookie catcher and top prospect, Carter Jensen, who was a late scratch from the lineup.

After the game, Royals manager Matt Quatraro revealed it was because Jensen overslept for the afternoon game.

Salvador Perez had caught the night before and was supposed to serve as the designated hitter yesterday afternoon, but the 35-year-old was forced back into the field.

Perez committed an error in the second inning that allowed the Twins' first run to score. Jensen did not enter the game until the ninth inning as a defensive replacement.

After the game, the 22-year-old Jensen answered for his rookie mistake.

The Royals continue their opening homestand tonight, beginning a series with the Milwaukee Brewers. Pregame coverage starts at 6 p.m. on the Mighty 690.
