Tuesday night’s NIT quarterfinal lived up to the hype, as Tulsa survived Wichita State 83-79.
The Shockers nearly made history, tying a program record with a 24-point comeback in the second half. They even took the lead with four minutes to go, but two key turnovers late turned the tide in favor of the Golden Hurricane.
It was the 148th all-time meeting between the two rivals, and the fourth this season.

For Wichita State, this concludes their third season under head coach Paul Mills. Their win total has improved each of those years; last night capped a 24-12 campaign.

Tulsa moves on to its third-ever NIT Final Four, having won it all on its previous two trips. They’ll get a few days off, as the tournament moves to Indianapolis next Thursday. The Golden Hurricane will face New Mexico in the semifinal, which defeated St Joseph’s 84-69.
