Coffeyville, Kan. - The Coffeyville Community College women's basketball team is advancing to the semifinals of the Region VI Tournament for the third time in the past four seasons, after an 87-62 win over Seward County in the quarterfinals.
The game started back and forth, with both teams trading leads early and being tied at 13 late in the first quarter. The Red Ravens would snatch momentum, going on a 10-0 run and leading by double digits for the rest of the evening.
Sophomore Isabella Pehrson was tasked with slowing down KJCCC Player of the Year finalist Avery Marchino, and held the sophomore to just 3-16 shooting and seven total points in the game.
Aubrey Hishaw finished with a game-high 25 points and eight rebounds, while Esme Smith posted her 14th double-double of the season, finishing with 24 points and 13 rebounds. Karliey Parker had 11 points for CCC, while Pehrson finished with nine, and Hallie Kitchen had seven.
The Lady Ravens improve to 23-8 on the season, and advance to the Final Four where they will battle the 30-1 Butler Grizzlies, who are the top overall seed in the tournament. The game gets underway at 1 p.m. CT on Friday afternoon
