The Coffeyville Community College basketball programs will be hosting the Region VI quarterfinals, battling the Seward County Saints with a trip to the Final Four on the line.
Both matchups are the No. 4 seed Red Ravens against the No. 5 seed Saints, with the programs squaring off for the third time this season.
On the women's side, CCC won a pair of closely contested games, with a 55-45 win in Liberal in November, and a 58-56 win in Coffeyville in January. Freshman Esme Smith is averaging 17 points and 11 rebounds against the Saints this season, with Karliey Parker and Aubrey Hishaw turning in quality performances as well.
The Saints are led by KJCCC Player of the Year finalist Avery Marchino, who averages a conference-best 21 points per game. Seward County has one of the league's best offensive units, with the third best scoring rate in the conference.
On the men's side, Coffeyville handed Seward one of just three losses in Liberal this season, and were able to escape in Coffeyville with a Konstantin Popovic game-winner with one second left. Key players return for both sides, with Jack Sorrell and Daniel Ntambwe in the lineup after missing January's game, and guard Antonio Williams Jr back for Seward, missing the past month with injury.
The two teams are among the league leaders in rebounding and defensive metrics, with both sides presenting physicality and intensity on both sides of the ball.
Coverage of tonight's Region VI Quarterfinals begins at 5:00pm on both US 98.1 FM and the Red Raven Sports Network.
