Coffeyville, Kan. - The Coffeyville Community College men's basketball team earned their seventh win in the past eight games, surviving a thriller in Garden City with a 74-73 win over the Broncbusters.
The Red Ravens had to keep up early, with Garden City hitting their first five shots of the night, but Coffeyville was able to stay within eight points throughout the first half. Kaason Thomas had a key eight points in the first half, including a floater to beat the buzzer, as the Ravens trailed 42-39 at the half.
An early second half run allowed CCC to take the lead and hold a narrow margin for most of the remainder of the game. The Coffeyville defense stepped up with the game on the line, not allowing the Broncbusters to score in the final 90 seconds.
Ulysses Webb had a team-high 14 points, while Jack Sorrell and Konstantin Popovic each had 13, and Jeremiah Ibeziako had 10.
The Red Ravens finish the regular season with a 21-9 record, and will either be the 3-seed or 4-seed for the Region Tournament, depending on the results of tonight's games. The team will host a quarterfinal game at Nellis Hall on Tuesday, March 10th.
