Area Wrestlers Begin State Tournament Action

 

The KSHSAA Boys and Girls State Wrestling tournaments get underway today with several area wrestlers looking to make a run at a state title.

 

On the boys' side in class 3-2-1A, Caney sent 11 grapplers to the state tournament with Sawyer Freisberg landing a #3 at 106 pounds and Austin Freisberg seeded #3 at 190. For the girls, Cherryvale sophomore Alyanna Barrager heads into the state tourney as the #1 seed at 100 pounds.

 

In class 4A, Field Kindley's Paxton LeBaron is the 5th seed at 285. In the Girls 4A bracket, Chanute senior Kiley Dillow looks to capture her 3rd state title at 170 pounds. She heads into the state tournament on a stellar 125-match win streak.

 

The Class 3-2-1A Tournament is being held in Hays on the campus of Fort Hays State, while the 4A tourney takes place in Salina at the Tony's Pizza Event Center. Wrestling gets underway at 9am today and continues through tomorrow.
