Scott Martin is named the new head football coach of the Nowata Ironmen, after a special meeting of the Nowata Board of Education on Tuesday evening.
Nowata High School Athletic Director Derick Ott says there were many applicants for the job.
Martin, a product of Colcord, Okla. has been a head coach at the high school level for 12 seasons and has 29 career wins. Martin has led eight different high schools. He comes to Nowata from Northwestern Oklahoma State University where he served as the offensive line coach.
Ott says Martin stood stood out from the other applicants.
Martin takes over a Nowata program that finished 2-8 last season behind former head coach Chance Juby. Juby was dismissed from his position on Dec. 29, 2025, due to pending felony charges in Rogers County District Court of engaging in prostitution within 1,000 feet of a school. Juby's next court appearance is March 9.
