Area wrestlers are preparing for a trip to the state wrestling tournament next weekend.
Field Kindley will send two wrestlers – Chloe Mund at 125 pounds and Mayela Franco at 235 – to next week's 4A State tournament in Salina. Independence will send Addison Augustine at 125, Bailer Henderson at 135, Callile Fairbank at 155, Dannee Anderson at 130, and Malaia Miller in the 100 pound weight class.
In 3-2-1A, Bryleigh Rigdon, Madi Wintjen, Mersaydes Stout, and Sierra Loder will represent Caney while Alayanna Barrager, Alayna Collins, Ciani Meloy, Hannah Lemons, Jasa Crumley. Katie Hester, Ma'Kiah Collins will represent Cherryvale. Barrager enters the state tournament as the top seed in the 100 pound bracket. The Cherryvale girls team finished 4th out of 47 teams at last weekend's regional tournament in Tonganoxie. The 3-2-1A State Tournament takes place at Fort Hays State University.
Boys wrestling will determine their state qualifiers in regional competition this weekend.
